Starling Murmuration

This hat was shortlisted in two catergories (Wearability and Technical) in the 2020 London Hat Week exhibition, organised by X Terrace. I imagined a time, say 2048, when our waste crisis gets so bad that we have to justify every tiny thing we throw out. How will it impact us? Will they measure the weight and volume of each household’s bins? I looked into the contents of my bin (metaphorically) and wondered what I could use to make my hat. This hat is made entirely of used teabags. It is the first in a collection of ‘Trash Hats’.
