The Haberdasher

‘The Haberdasher’ won first prize at the 2022 HATalk Competition. It was exhibited at the London Hat Week 2022 exhibition at Morley Gallery, London. The brief was to create an original hat or headpiece using the theme ‘Happy Place’ as the inspiration. It represents the moment at the beginning of the project - where you’ve collected a tottering pile of haberdashery and materials and it’s all about the potential. It is sewn by hand using a variety of upcycled and leftover millinery straw. The judges called it ‘so joyful and playful and appealing to all who sew. Exquisite detailing and finish.’
